AERIUS is a brand name for a medication called desloratadine. It is an antihistamine that is used to relieve symptoms of hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) such as runny nose, sneezing, itchy or watery eyes, and itchy nose or throat.
Dose
For adults and children 12 years and older:
- The usual dose is 5 mg (one tablet) once daily.
For children 6 to 11 years old:
- The recommended dose is 2.5 mg (half a tablet) once daily.
For children 1 to 5 years old:
- The dose is usually based on body weight. It is typically 1.25 mg (quarter of a tablet) once daily for every 5 kg of body weight, up to a maximum of 5 mg (one tablet) daily.
Precaution
