DIPROGENTA Ointment is a combination preparation for external use. Diprogenta ointment contains two active ingredients:
Betamethasone dipropionate a synthetic adrenal cortex hormone (glucocorticoid) which works against inflammation and can thus relieve itching, redness, swelling and pain.
Gentamicin sulfate an antibiotic from the group of aminoglycosides which fights infections caused by bacteria.
Diprogenta ointment is used for localized, small-area skin diseases when:
who require treatment with a potent glucocorticoid and
at the same time there is an additional infection (superinfection) with bacteria and these bacteria can be effectively treated with the active ingredient gentamicin.
The recommended dose is
for adults:
Apply a thin film to the affected skin areas once or twice a day and gently rubbed in. The frequency of application can be reduced if the symptoms improve.
The treated skin area should not exceed 10 % of the body surface .
The duration of treatment with Diprogenta ointment should not exceed 7 to 10 days. Please discuss longer or repeated treatment with your doctor.
for children:
In general, increased caution is required when treating children with glucocorticoid preparations, as there may be increased absorption of the active ingredient through the child's skin compared to adults.
Diprogenta ointment is applied thinly to the affected skin areas once daily and rubbed in gently. It should only be used on small areas in children.
Precautions
DIPROGENTA cream must not be used:
-if you are pregnant,
-if you are allergic to the active substances betamethasone, gentamicin, the other ingredient chlorocresol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine listed in section 6,
-if you are hypersensitive to other drugs from the group of glucocorticoids or aminoglycoside antibiotics,
-in viral infections, including vaccination reactions and chickenpox, and viral infections of the skin ( e.g. herpes simplex, shingles),
-in tuberculosis or syphilis (lues) involving the skin,
-for facial rose (rosacea) and rosacea-like skin inflammation,
if you have a fungal infection on any part of your skin,
-eye diseases,
-when taking antibiotics from the aminoglycoside group internally at the same time because of the risk of harmful amounts of the antibiotic in the blood,
-in advanced renal dysfunction,
-in infants and young children under 1 year of age.
- in the ear canal, on the eyes or on the mucous membranes.
-on wounds or open legs (ulcers) . Airtight dressings should not be used.
