Flugone P+ Plus Syrup is a combination medication formulated to relieve symptoms of the common cold, flu, and upper respiratory tract allergies. Unlike Flugone DM (which focuses heavily on suppressing dry coughs), Flugone P+ is specifically tailored to combat pain, fever, runny nose, and severe nasal congestion, making it particularly popular for pediatric care.
Active Ingredients
Each 5ml teaspoon of Flugone P+ contains:
-
Paracetamol (120mg): An analgesic and antipyretic that lowers fever and relieves body aches, headaches, or sore throats.
-
Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride (15mg): A nasal decongestant that narrows the blood vessels in the nasal passages to clear blocked sinuses.
-
Chlorpheniramine Maleate (1mg): An antihistamine that stops sneezing, watery eyes, and runny noses by blocking histamine release.
Dosage Guidelines
Always shake the bottle well before dispensing. Unless a healthcare professional advises otherwise, standard intervals are 3 times daily or every 6 hours as needed:
-
Adults and children over 12 years: 10 ml per dose (Maximum 40 ml in 24 hours).
-
Children 6 to 12 years: 5 ml to 10 ml per dose.
-
Children 2 to 5 years: 5 ml per dose.
-
Children 1 to 2 years: 2.5 ml (half a teaspoon) per dose.
Critical Safety Precautions
-
Paracetamol Overdose Risk: Do not give Flugone P+ alongside other paracetamol-containing medications (like Calpol, Panadol, or Hedex). Excess paracetamol can cause severe liver damage.
-
Drowsiness: The antihistamine component causes drowsiness. Children may become sleepy, and adults taking the medication must not drive or operate machinery.
-
Underlying Conditions: Consult a doctor before use if the patient has high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid conditions, or severe asthma.
