Hyoscine butylbromide (scopolamine butylbromide) is an antispasmodic drug indicated for the treatment of abdominal pain associated with cramps induced by gastrointestinal (GI) spasms/cramps of genito-urinary tract. It is also used in Endoscopy or Radiology premedication and Irritable bowel syndrome.
Dose
Adults dose: 20mg four times daily.
Paediatric dose: 6-12 years 10-20mg three times a daily; 3-6 years 10mg three times daily; 1-3years 5-10mg three times daily.
Precaution
Use of Hyoscine Butylbromide is not recommended in pregnancy as it may lead to impaired foetal fluid sac. This medicine may also cause miscarriage.
Hyoscine Butylbromide is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. This medicine may cause respiratory depression in infants.
