Metoclopramide(Metcos 10mg) is a dopamine receptor antagonist and has been approved to treat nausea and vomiting in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease or diabetic gastroparesis by increasing gastric motility.
Dose
Metoclopramide is generally administered orally in a tablet or solution form. The dosage of the tablets and solutions is generally 5 to 10 mg. It is usually taken before meals and before sleep.
Precautions
Metoclopramide should not be administered in patients with the following:
known hypersensitivity to metoclopramide or excipients.
Gastrointestinal bleeding.
Obstruction.
Perforation.
Pheochromocytoma.
Seizures.
Depression.
Parkinson disease.
