Milam 15mg tablets contain the active ingredient midazolam, a short-acting medication belonging to the benzodiazepine class. It works by enhancing the effects of GABA, a natural neurotransmitter that calms the central nervous system.
Because it is a potent sedative, Milam is heavily regulated. In Kenya, it is classified as a controlled prescription item under the Pharmacy and Poisons Board and can only be dispensed with a valid medical prescription.
Primary Uses

Preoperative Sedation: Taken shortly before surgeries or diagnostic medical procedures to relieve anxiety, induce relaxation, and cause temporary short-term memory loss (amnesia) so the patient does not remember the procedure discomfort.

Short-Term Insomnia: Prescribed occasionally for severe, acute sleep disturbances, though typically restricted to short-term clinical use due to the risk of dependency.
