Norvasc 10 mg contains amlodipine which is a calcium channel blocker that dilates (widens) blood vessels and improves blood flow. Norvasc 10 mg is used to treat chest pain (angina) and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease. Norvasc 10 mg is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering blood pressure may lower your risk of a stroke or heart attack. Amlodipine is for use in adults and children who are at least 6 years old.
Dose
Take Norvasc 10 mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Your doctor may occasionally change your dose. Do not use this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. You may take Norvasc 10 mg with or without food. Take the medicine at the same time each day.
Precaution
Drinking alcohol can further lower your blood pressure and may increase certain side effects of Norvasc. You should not take Norvasc 10 mg if you are allergic to amlodipine. Norvasc is not approved for use by anyone younger than 6 years old.
