Zupricin topical cream is used to treat secondarily infected traumatic skin lesions due to specific bacteria. Zupricin topical ointment is used to treat impetigo. This medicine works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth.
Also, it treats inflammation of a hair follicle. Other conditions that it treats include:
- minor skin infection due to bacteria
- methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus bacteria in nose
- Finally, it treats furunculosis or boils on the skin
Dose
Use this medication only on the skin. Clean and dry the affected area first. Then apply a small amount of ointment to the area as directed by your doctor, usually 3 times a day for up to 10 days; treatment should be re-evaluated if there is no response after 3 to 5 days. . You may cover the treated area with a bandage.
Precaution
- Allergic reactions—skin rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
